Chapter 4

A hurricane appeared on the horizon, hitting the surface of the ocean, a hurricane advancing towards the ship at a terrible speed, and with the shouting of the captain who had arrived at the cockpit for everyone to lower the sails and turn the rudder so that we could sail away, I tried to hold on tightly to one of the sail poles and tied the ropes around my body so that I proved myself well, I looked in front of me towards that hurricane, from which I do not know where it appeared, and how in moments the clear skies turned into winter skies, lightning, thunder, and waves hitting the ship ferociously. The last thing I remember before I lost consciousness was the shadow of a giant being next to the hurricane coming upon us, which appeared as it approached. Features a snake with a huge head and red glass eyes.

I do not know how much time has passed. I opened my eyes with difficulty and I felt as if something was restricting my body, and that I was carrying something heavy on my back, and my face was touched by water mixed with fine grains of sand every moment. I tried to balance myself, but that weight on my back was forcing me to remain lying down. When I regained consciousness well, I knew that what was restraining me were the ropes that I tied myself to my body to that column, and that part of the column that was destroyed was still holding me by the ropes. That wooden part might be the reason for my escape from drowning, as it floated on me after the ship crashed. Then the waves threw me onto that beach.

After I untied the ropes around my body and pushed those logs off my back, I stood up and tried to shake the sand from my wet clothes while looking around in all directions, looking for anyone from the ship’s crew, but there was no one. The sun’s rays were streaming between the sand and making it shine like sparkling alabaster grains, and calm waves came sneaking between my toes. The shoe has worn out and only pieces of it remain covering the surface of my feet. I moved while trying to remove the wet clothes from my body and at the same time inspecting the place with my eyes. The tall trees were lined up on the borders of the beach as if She was hiding something behind her.

I moved closer to the trees, then extended my hand and placed the pieces of wet clothing on a nearby branch, but what made my heart beat strongly was seeing what looked like a small river filled with gold and precious treasures. It was clear that they had been placed or thrown in this way by humans, but what was strange was that they were stained with dried blood. The golden color merged with the dark red to reveal a strange painting of the two colors. I raised my eyes slightly as I stepped back so that the vision became clear of a giant statue of skeletons, which was the shape of that being that I saw before I lost consciousness while on board the ship, and even engraved on it perfectly were those words that... My heart almost stopped just reading it, and it is

((Among the folds of complete darkness and the stillness of the night, beware of the whispering. Stand still and do not move. Be like the statues scattered throughout the island. Refrain from breathing if you can. If you cannot, know that you are just an appetizer inside a large plate of food, made especially for me. You are on my island, my kingdom.) Enjoy the day as you wish, among its picturesque charm, but we advise you not to delve deep into it, lest you be devoured.))

The captain of the ship (Marc Fabier Vladimir) stopped while flipping through the papers and said in amazement

“Mark, where are the rest of the diaries? The papers are empty.”

Mark quickly got up and grabbed that red notebook and started flipping through it and said

“How is that? The diary was recorded here. I saw it before I got the diary from my grandfather’s desk drawer.”

“Look here,” said the captain, “someone has cut some papers.”

Mark said, “Damn it, who did that? No one knows that I have the notebook except my grandfather before he died and my father! Damn it, Father, why did you do that?”

Antoine laughed and said, “It is possible that your father, Mark, was afraid that you would read it and get excited about going to that island, so he preferred to remove the papers.”

At the same time, one of the sailors approached and said to the captain, “There is a call from one of the ships belonging to the Water Guard asking to speak to you.”

The captain got up and said, "Don't be sad, Mark. We will discover what Mr. Vladimir has revealed for ourselves."

Then he left them and went up to the cockpit with the sailor to talk to the caller. Mark's father's voice came over the radio

“Hey, Mister Denian, I am Mark’s father. I wanted to thank you for taking command of the ship, and I have a small request from you.”

The captain said, “No thanks for your work, sir. Of course, I will fulfill any request if I can.”

Mark's father said, "Do not listen to the children's talk, and please do not go outside the borders of our state."

The captain said, “Excuse me, sir, but we have been trying to solve this matter for hours and we have already gone out of bounds, so I don’t want you to worry, as they are in good hands at sailing.”

Mark's father said with natural concern, like any father, trying not to show anger or desire to control the course of things. The law is on his son's side, as he has passed the legal age for self-reliance.

“Yes, of course, I know that they are with the best captain who has been cruising the seas and oceans for years, but knowing that they are teenagers and cannot make sound decisions, have you told me where they want to go?”

The captain was silent for a while. He is a father and knows the feeling of anxiety that would affect Mark’s father if he knew what his son’s desire was. Then he said:

“He told me that they wanted to sail for several weeks in the depths of the ocean, just for fun.”

Mark's father said, "Well if anything happens that bothers you, I hope you tell me when you get back."

"Sure, you have that," said the captain.

He hung up the phone, then went back to looking at those maps, then suddenly shouted at his sailor assistants

“Look, so guys, we are now in this area and if we take that shortcut we will arrive in two days from the direction behind the islands. The route here was drawn on this map.”

The assistant captain looked and said, “The road is shaped like a snake’s body, wrapping around and between those snowy mountains. This is dangerous, Captain Duncan. Look, when we reach that point, we won’t be able to use the engine.”

“We can count on the sails,” said the captain.

Assistant Captain: “Okay, we will update the coordinates and turn the ship.”

The captain said, “I will go and tell the guys.”

The young men were still sitting in the same place and did not move, and they began to play a game of honesty and lies. The captain approached and called for Mark and Raymond. Everyone paid attention to him, and Mark raised his hand and said.

“Don't tell me, it was my father who was on the radio line.”

The captain laughed and said, “Yes, he is, but that is not why I came back to you. Rather, I have wonderful news regarding that map you gave me.”

Raymond quickly approached the captain and said, “What? Is there a mistake or something you can’t read?”

The captain said, “No, of course, I can read it, and I have discovered a shortcut that will get us to those islands in just two days.”

The young men jumped for joy and gathered around the captain, singing and dancing while chanting

“We are sailing with the greatest captain.”
