 Chapter 20

While the mosquitoes were sucking the blood of the injured doctor, Doctor Vladimir and the doctors were preparing blood transfusion devices. Doctor Vladimir quickly pumped a type of fume into the glass mold, which led to the mosquitoes falling from above the injured doctor’s body. Then he extracted the body and placed it on the table, then connected the blood pumping devices to the body. Doctor: During the blood transfusion, Doctor Youssef was collecting the fallen mosquitoes inside the box again.

The recording stopped at this moment, and Antoine said

"Why did he stop? What happened to the doctor? Is this doctor, Vladimir, Mark's grandfather? He looks a lot like him, but this is a young man in his thirties."

Mary said, “This is the number one recording. There are many, many recordings. We need an age above our age to see them all. Yes, this is Mark’s grandfather, and it is normal for him to be thirty years old or even a little younger, because when he returned home he was sixty years old, I heard from My father that when the grandfather disappeared for the first time, he was twenty-eight years old, and Mark’s father was newly married, and he remembered that Mark had an older sister than him. I think she died when she was young, and that is what makes Mark’s father’s fear have strong reasons, as he did not want to lose Mark the way he lost his daughter.”

Antoine said, “Okay, play the following recording so we can find out what happened to Dr. Raphael.”

The rest of the guys had returned, so Clark said

"Did you find anything, Mary?"

Mary told about what they saw on the recording, and Elizabeth said:

“I think Antoine’s blood should be completely changed, that’s what I understand.”

Mary said, "There are mosquitoes in the embryo room. I saw them last time. We can see if there are any of them still alive."

Clark said, "I was in the embryo room a while ago, and all the embryos there were moving. Even the eggs inside the glass tanks hatched, and different animals emerged from them."

Marie said, “This is good, but where do we get the blood that is sufficient for Antoine’s body? Suppose we find it, this means that we have to remain here inside the laboratory for days, not hours.”

Silence and confusion prevailed among them all, Clark said as he looked at Antoine, who was hiding his face in his hands

"We first find what is needed to do that, then we think about what's next. Where is that room that contains the devices?"

Mary said, “According to what is in the recording, the room on the first floor is below the ground, and there are no stairs to go down, meaning we must use the elevator.”

Raymond said, “No, I found the blueprint for the laboratory, and there is a ladder hidden in the wall, but it only opens with brains that were hanging in a pendant on Doctor Vladimir’s chest.”

Mark put his hand on his chest and said, “The necklace?! Damn, it’s in the wooden box inside my clothes at the beach. I left it while I was unpacking the bag.”

Alice said, "Why don't we use the elevator?"

Clark said, "Because there is something wrong with it and it is not working. Well, Mary, did Grandpa Vladimir change the blood of the injured doctor immediately after the injury?"

Marie said, "I don't think so. Doctor Raphael's body was changing, and in his neck, there were those things that are found in fish for breathing. They have not appeared in Antoine yet, and this means that there is a period between the injury and the treatment."

Tina said, “We can know the period from the recording. Play it back from the time of the injury.”

Mary replayed the last part of the recording, and everyone paid attention to the time recorded on the camera during the injury and the time recorded when the treatment began. After a few moments, Alice shouted.

“For a whole week, he was injected with a serum that slows down the transformation.”

"A whole week, so that means that recording was never live," Clark said.

Mary said, “Maybe a live broadcast started, and then the broadcast stopped, but the recording kept working because there are more than hundreds of recordings here.”

Tina said, "Where is the serum that slows down the transformation?"

Mary said, “Inside the embryo room, there is the serum. Doctor Youssef said that when the other doctors were trying to pull Doctor Raphael out of the octopus’s hand.”

"Are there guidelines for how long between each injection of the vaccine?" Clark said.

“I remember that when Doctor Youssef started recording the events, he was standing at that desk,” Raymond said, pointing to an office near the embryology room.

Clark hurriedly tried to open the desk drawers, but they were closed with a lock. Clark tried to break the lock, but he could not. Everyone began looking everywhere, trying to find any key or even something strong to break the lock. Mark approached and began to look at the lock, his eyes changed automatically, and he could see the components of the lock from the inside. Without thinking, he pulled the belt that Clark was wearing and took out the iron tongue at the front of the belt. Tina also gave the hair clip that she was wearing to Antoine. For a few moments, he was able to open the lock after moving the inner teeth of the lock. Then he said:

“Fortunately, the lock is of the old, uncomplicated type.”

Clark opened the drawers and began to search among the papers for a note or anything that the doctor used to write down his thoughts or arrange and organize his work. Mary noticed that there was an audio recording device next to it were many dubbed tapes, and each tape had the content written on it. She read it out loud.

“The incubation of the eggs, the first sound of the hybrid tree, the alphabetical order of listing the embryos of the hybrids of Abelisaurus, Ankylosaurus, Baryonyx, and other species. This is what we want to record and arrange the origins by their colors and uses.”

She put the last tape inside the device as she moved towards the embryo room, but Antoine grabbed her and pinned her against the wall, while Clark whispered as he pointed to the rest of the young men.

"Hide behind something"

The head of a huge lizard began to emerge from the door of the room and then move outside. The lizard did not feel them, and before it reached the stairs that connected to the second floor, a sound came from outside the laboratory. The lizard hurried to return to the room. For a few moments, Antoine crept into the room alone and then said:

“You can come. I left through the laboratory door attached to the embryo room.”

Mary entered, followed by Clark, Antoine was petting a group of animals that emerged from eggs inside a fish tank, and Clark said

“Good, now they will think you are their mother.”

Antoine laughed, “I agree to raise these children because they look beautiful.”

Mary laughed and then pressed the record player button after opening the closet. On each shelf was written the type of serum.

"Voice recording"

“What are you doing, Youssef, with this old device?”

Youssef said, "Don't make fun of my audio recording device, Raphael. That device was my only savior during my university studies. I used to record lectures so I could listen to them during study time. Anyway, I will record a schedule for each serum we made, its name, use, and times." The interval between each injection

Raphael said, "I have a question for you. Why did Professor Vladimir invent a serum that slows down transformation?"

“The red serum, I think, so he can study the changes in human lab mice,” Youssef said.

Rafael said, “No, I think he enjoys torturing the imprisoned Liga, along with his wife, Caroline.”

“Why would he torture them? Then Vladimir is not that bad,” Joseph said.

Rafael said maliciously, “Read the file of the prisoner, the League, and you understand. Anyway, I have to go down to the first floor. I will feed the girlfriend of the League.”

Youssef said, "Damn you. If Vladimir knows what you are doing, he will make you a guinea pig. Remember, and now the red serum, which is one of the most important serums for its effectiveness in slowing down any transformation, was invented by Doctor Vladimir when experiments on humans began. Its effect lasts twenty-four hours and is used on hybrids." Only the one that is being transformed, not the hybrid born in the laboratory. Note that the hybrid should not be given more than five injections so that it does not die.”

Marie closed the recording and said, “I had an injection two days ago, Antoine. You can take four injections.”

Antoine said, "Hurry up and inject the injection into my neck now, as you did before, because I feel something strange trying to control my thinking, but I am resisting it."

"If you take the serum now, you'll be paralyzed," Clark said.

Antoine hit the wall with his head, so Clark quickly took the syringe that Marie had already filled and injected it into Antoine, who collapsed as soon as the injection began to take effect in his body, Clark said.

“I hope your body does not become heavy with these changes.”

Clark carried his friend, and Mary carried her bag and Clark's bag, muttering

"What did you put in the bag? I think it's heavier than Antoine."

Clark looked at her and said, "You bear it, Antoine."

Mary laughed and said, “The bag is light.”

Mary left the embryo room and went to a laptop computer that she had connected to the charger when they arrived and began transferring many video recordings from the computer's memory. Mark approached, carrying a moving bed with Raymond, so Clark placed Antoine on the bed, then Clark said

"Where did you find that bed?"

Raymond said, “When you and Mary were inside the embryo room, Alice was able to fix something electrical in the electrical control room, and then the elevator started working, so Mark and I went to the first floor downstairs and found this near the elevator door.”

“Are there any hybrids down there?” Mary said.

Mark said, "I don't think it's any more ruined than anywhere here, and there's dried blood everywhere."

Raymond said, “But we found a self-operating refrigerator that was not connected to electricity and it was filled with bags of blood, but we could not open it or even break the glass. I do not think it was closed with an old-made lock.”

Clark said, “Good, there is blood, and inside the embryo chamber there are mosquitoes. We will review the audio recordings that Elizabeth collected, as I asked her, and see what we should do.”

Mary said, “And I took a laptop with Dr. Youssef’s camera recordings on it.”

Alice said, “I brought tools that we can cut down trees with, and they operate on electricity, meaning they do not require charging.”

“I also brought a lot of tools,” Clark said.

“I took all the ropes I could find,” Tina said.

Raymond said, “So, we return to the beach, and then Clark, Mark, and I will move out and gather as much wood as we can before dark.”

They all moved outside until they reached the electricity wires, and then they stopped, Clark said

“We should have turned off the electricity.”

Alice said, "Don't worry, I disconnected the power from the wires."

The girls went out first, then Raymond followed them, carrying the empty gurney. After Clark carried Antoine and took him across the stairs, then Mark passed, the last of them. Mary looked at the sky and said:

“I think we are still in the middle of the day, but where are those hawks that were watching?”

"Maybe she's tired of watching," Elizabeth said.

Mark said, “Where are the cats that were following us to the laboratory door? Are they bored too?”

Raymond said, “Why is there a moon in the middle of the day when there is a sun?”

Alice said, “Also, I brought a cell phone that was inside one of the drawers, but there was no signal or

even any sign of a network.”

Marie looked at Antoine and laughed, then said, “If Antoine could talk, he would have asked if there were any games on the phone.”
